Job Accounts Payable in Whitby
What will you do?
The Accounts Payable Representative (AP) involves providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the Finance & Accounting Department. The position is responsible for processing accounts payable payments and related purchase functions.
What will you work on?
- Assess vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
- Review and process expense reports.
- Process invoices and cheque requisitions for payment, ensuring GL coding is appropriate, due date is valid and applicable approvals are in place.
- Data entry in BPCS to input invoices/cheque requisitions.
- Complete weekly cheque runs, organizing cheques and supporting documentation for manager to review.
- Check spreadsheets for accuracy.
- Maintain digital and physical financial records.
- Participate to provide supporting documentation and feedback when need for internal and external audits.
- Reply to inquiries via phone and email from vendors and staff on the status of payments.
- Liaise with manager for release of payments and reviewing cheque runs.
- Perform other job-related duties/projects as assigned.
To be successful you will have:
- Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
or
- Equivalent education and experience in a similar role.
What you bring to the team:
- Superior computer skills: MS-Office, AS400, data entry.
- Strong organization skills with ability to plan workload and multitask in order to meet tight deadlines and produce results.
- Communication: express information (oral and written) with consistency, clarity and professionalism. Fluent in English (bilingual in French would be an asset).
- Mathematical: high working knowledge and ability to accurately perform mathematical tasks.
- Analytical: identify a problem or issue, gather information, develop a solution.
- Critical thinking: analyze and evaluate facts to form a judgement.
- Interpersonal: relate well with people, effective/active listener, collaborate and work well with others.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $43,000.00-$47,000.00 per year
