Job Assistant Production Worker in Calgary

Hiring Bonus: total amount of $1,000*

  • $500 after completion of the Probationary Period (90 working days)
  • $500 after One Year of continuous employment (365 days)

HOURLY WAGE

$22.02 per hour, plus additional premiums such as shift premiums ($1.25 per hour) and incentive bonuses.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • General Helpers are required to set-up equipment, operation of machines, and providing verification of the quality of the product being produced.
  • General Helpers are required to work the shift rotation associated with the area where they are working. Shifts may include a combination of days, afternoons, and nights for the 8-hour rotation. Weekends may be required as part of the 12-hour shift rotation.
  • The work is fast paced, physical, and is done in a heavy duty industrial manufacturing setting. Fitness and safety awareness is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operation of a forklift and overhead crane.
  • Operation of production machinery, including a production conveyor and coiling equipment.
  • Production department housekeeping (i.e. sweeping, machine cleaning, shoveling, painting, vacuuming, etc.).
  • Warehouse work (i.e. lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, moving up and down stairs , and carrying items).
  • Assisting Machine Operators at a machine (lifting / moving product).

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years’ forklift or liftruck experience within the past 5 years (must be comfortable on liftrucks ranging from 10,000 to 17,000 with 8-foot forks, moving wide loads safely, and the ability to stack material according to procedure).
  • Previous manufacturing experience in an industrial environment, including continuous metal strapping of finished goods using a pneumatic tool to secure strapping and dunnage.
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to specification instructions to properly pack finished goods according to customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a safety first mind-set.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to learn in a fast paced environment.
  • A team player who is willing to take direction from Machine Operators.
  • Experience with overhead crane is considered an asset.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English.
  • Must have steel-toed safety boots with non-slip sole.
  • Ability to pass a Mechanical Aptitude test, as this position will graduate into a Machine Operator (must be comfortable using hand tools).
