The Finance Data & Analytics Team at OMERS is seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst with strong data engineering and data governance experience, as well as knowledge of Alteryx, to join our team on a 15 month contract. In this role, you will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data and analytics requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications. You will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets, designing, and developing dashboards, and providing insights to support business decision-making. You will champion Data Governance in partnership with Business and Data & Technology peers.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data and analytics requirements and translate them into functional and technical specifications.
Design and develop reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform, Alteryx, or Excel.
Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
Use data engineering tools such as Azure Synapse to develop and maintain data pipelines, perform data validation, testing, and quality assurance.
Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures using tools such as Collibra.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Communicate insights and findings to business stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Participate in data governance and data management initiatives.
Strong Presentation skills including creating Business Storytelling pitch decks
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, IT teams, and data engineers, to gather requirements and implement data analytics solutions.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data analytics tools, data governance, and documentation.
Provide training and support to end-users on data analytics tools, data governance best practices, and documentation

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in a finance or analytics-related field. Consulting experience is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform, Alteryx, or Excel.
Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools such as Python or R.
Experience with data engineering using Azure Synapse or a similar tool.
Knowledge of data governance principles and experience with tools such as Collibra.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of financial statements and accounting concepts is a plus.
