POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of Maple Ridge is seeking a candidate whose thrives on building insights, developing and implementing finance information systems and understands that the voice of the customer is the foundation for successful digital innovation and transformation. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Planning, the role involves complex analytical and technical work conducted in response to a wide range of business requirements which encompasses all phases of computer projects such as systems analysis, system design, configuration, implementation, and operation. The Business Solutions Analyst will lean on their technical skills and experience in a municipal finance environment to support the Finance department to identify business problems and opportunities for technology optimization and efficiencies. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the IT department to analyze existing and proposed systems and procedures, devise and develop information systems solutions, designs and maintain application programs according to delivery of business requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a two-year diploma in technology management, computer science, or a related field, plus considerable related experience, preferably some experience in supporting and implementing technology solutions for multiple business units or departments; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of problem definition and resolution techniques applicable to the development and implementation of information technologies in response to business requirements.
- Considerable knowledge of the procedures, methods, techniques and standards used in information systems technology.
- Considerable knowledge of the functions of departments served and their information technology requirements.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate data and information requirements and develop logical solutions for assigned problems.
- Ability to act as a leader on intermediate-level projects in the plan, design and implementation of new and modified business processes and systems.
- Ability to assist senior staff with analyzing new technologies and identify opportunities to align with overall business strategy.
- Ability to design and write small applications, interfaces, forms, test scripts, and automation processes.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to provide advice and assistance on matters related to the work.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and maintain technical reports and documentation.
- Experience in municipal and finance environment and/or a CPA designation or equivalent will be considered an asset.
LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES
Class 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia.
