Job Business Development Coordinator in Remote

MLT Aikins is looking for an ambitious business development professional who thrives in a fast-paced and relationship-driven environment. The business development coordinator position is responsible for the coordination and execution of business development initiatives that assist our lawyers with the acquisition, retention and expansion of clients. The positions support a wide variety of practice groups, industry teams and offices. Reporting directly to the Director, Marketing and Business Development, the position is remote.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of the firm’s business development strategy, working with the director
  • Co-ordinating and preparing all aspects of pitches and proposals, using the firm’s proposal builder system (RFPIO) and leveraging a proven project management approach
  • Tracking win/loss rates and providing recommendations to improve success rates
  • Reviewing firm data (client, prospects and event and marketing lists) to identify leads and growth clients and identify opportunities to help close business
  • Conducting market, competitor and client research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth and expansion
  • Monitoring industry trends and competitors to provide insights and recommendations for business development opportunities
  • Performing tasks to support a pursuit team approach to business development, such as researching prospects, co-ordinating internal meetings, capturing and reporting on lead activity from lawyers and creating prospect lead alerts
  • Monitoring tender platforms such as Merx and government tender websites and identifying opportunities with practice area leads to consider submitting a response
  • Supporting individual lawyer business development by maintaining self-serve templates
  • Promoting business wins via the firm’s internal newsletter through write ups or recorded client and business development success stories
  • Helping co-ordinate lawyer business development meetings, tracking all action items and assisting with and following up on items to ensure completion
  • Co-ordinating and supporting award nominations and submissions (Chambers, Best Lawyers, Benchmark Litigation, Lexpert, Legal500)
  • Assisting with special projects and initiatives related to the marketing and business development department’s annual goals
  • Supporting the firm’s marketing specialists and business development consultant on duties as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field with a minimum of three years of experience in professional services marketing or business development (legal, accounting, finance)
  • APMP Bid and Proposal Management Foundation Certification (considered an asset)
  • Member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (considered an asset)
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with lawyers based on trust and ability to follow through on deadlines and commitments
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize, multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and be self-directed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM software
  • Ability to handle situations diplomatically and professionally
  • Work sometimes requires more than 35 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position
