What you'll be doing...

The Abilities Management, Case Manager is a key player in our People and Culture team, providing case management support and direction to both employees and stakeholders for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses. This role collaborates with internal stakeholders and interacts with healthcare professionals and insurers to ensure a sage and sustainable return to work for our employees.

In this position, you will get the opportunity to:

  • Coordinate case management activities to support safe, timely and sustainable return to work.
  • Support employees including communication, collaboration with health care providers, monitoring progress of employees, communicating, and collaborating with managers and union representatives.
  • Assess employees fitness for work based on medical and functional information.
  • Develop individual plans that facilitate an early and sage return to work that meet employee’s functional ability and individual needs.
  • Documents case activity and decisions in a timely, accurate, confidential manner.
  • Promote best practices of disability management.
  • Provide expert consultation, advice, and coaching to stakeholders and collaborate with leaders to resolve issues on complex cases.

This is a hybrid work opportunity with the expectation that the successful candidate will reside in Victoria and work out of the Victoria Transit Administration building at least 2 days per week.

What you'll bring to the table...

We value lifelong learners and have found the following combination of education and experience allows people to be successful in this role:
  • Related work experience in disability case management
  • Knowledge and experience in WorkSafeBC claims processing, policies and procedures considered an asset
  • WorkSafeBC Rehabilitation Services and Claims Manual is an asset.
  • Work experience includes the application of best practices in disability case management, early intervention, and return to work planning.
  • Expereince coordinating resources to support case resolution and negotiating solutions to complex problems.
  • Knowledge of disability management principles and best practices in a unionized environment.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, collective agreements, human rights legislation and information and privacy acts.
