We operate the wholesale distribution of beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis within the province, as well as the household retail brands of BC Liquor Stores and BC Cannabis Stores. Retail Operations, encompassing the three retail business units of Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations, is responsible for the strategic direction and operations of the 198 BC Liquor Stores. The Retail division develops and executes key strategies to drive business/ revenue, creates systems and processes to maximize operational excellence, while upholding BCLDB’s core values of service, relationships and results. About this role:

The Category Manager is LDB’s point person and expert in all aspects of a category of beverage alcohol and in-store products. The Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of assigned sub-categories. This involves creating product assortments and leading the evaluation, selection and merchandising of products to achieve corporate objectives, sales, and gross margin targets. The Category Manager is accountable for the financial results of the product category.

A criminal record check is required. Ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia and internationally is also required.

Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or Certificate related to category management, merchandising or a related discipline and a minimum of four years of recent, related experience*.

OR

  • Minimum of 7 years of recent, related experience*.

*Recent, related experience must have occurred within the last ten years and include the following:

  • Minimum 3 years’ senior management experience with an organization selling consumer products. Alcohol beverage industry experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail category management with beverage alcohol preferred.
