Data Engineer

Four Eyes is a Canadian Wealth/RegTech company looking to welcome an experienced Database Engineer to our growing data team. The successful candidate will work with the development team and clients, to ensure system consistency, provide technical support and identify new requirements.

Focus Areas

Database Management: Databases are structured and operating efficiently.

• Experience with large data sets and Enterprise-grade databases (Relational, NoSQL and Node Graph Databases).
• Transforming data through field mapping, programmatic rulesets, and data integrity checking.
• Designing tables and indexes for efficient queries.
• Writing DB functions and procedures.
• Experience with many data types: JSON, XML, CSV, etc.
• Designing databases for OLTP and OLAP.

ETL: Build, operate, and support our ETL pipelines & data systems.

• Experience extracting data from multiple sources (APIs, SFTP, Web Scraping, etc.).
• Experience architecting and building data pipelines.
• Deep understanding of how to build and maintain event driven ETL processes with complex interdependencies.
• Understanding of how to implement ETL processes using a combination of serverless and container-based infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• A graduate of Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent knowledge/experience; with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Programming experience with Python and SQL (emphasis on Postgres).
• Exposure to Python libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SKLearn, PyTorch, Keras, Dask, AsyncIO.
• Experience using Python coding frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
• 3+ years experience implementing ETL pipelines with Python using frameworks like Apache Airflow or similar technologies.
• An Intuitive grasp of data modeling, strong with Postgres & NoSQL databases (e.g. DynamoDB), JSON/XML data structures, and data warehousing concepts.
• BONUS: Exposure to cloud based technologies such as AWS, Azure and GCP.
