It’s a pretty unique opportunity to work here, and we’re looking for a new Payroll Data Entry Clerk to join our PAL team in St. John’s.

As a Payroll Data Entry Clerk, you are responsible for inputting and verifying employee time and attendance data into the payroll system, including hours worked, leaves, deductions and other relevant information. This role typically involves working with spreadsheets and database software to accurately record payroll information and ensure that payroll is processed on time and in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting and reviewing employee timesheets, timecards, or other records of hours worked
  • Entering and updating employee payroll data, new hire information and other required information
  • Verifying payroll data for accuracy and completeness, and amending as required
  • Communicating with supervisors or employees to resolve payroll discrepancies or answer questions about payroll policies or procedures
  • Generating reports and statements related to payroll data
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employee payroll information and complying with data protection laws and regulations
  • Keeping up to date with changes in payroll regulations and company policies, and ensuring that payroll data is compliant with these requirements
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, a Payroll Data Entry Clerk should have strong data entry skills and attention to detail, as well as experience with payroll software or database systems. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also important, as this role involves working closely with other members of the HR or finance team, as well as employees at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary Diploma in Accounting or Payroll Administration; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 1-year experience working in a payroll or data entry role
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial tax regulations/laws
  • Understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Organized, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
