Responsibilities



The Database Administrator (DBA) maintains corporate databases and the database management environment requirements to ensure continued operability and attainment of service levels, including development of modifications to existing databases and new databases, monitoring performance, tuning and reorganizing the database, implementing backup and recovery procedures and ensuring its security. Researches and maintains currency on market trends and product advances. Performs the role of technical Project Leader or participates in projects. Responds to database operational emergencies.

Qualifications


Requires Grade 12 graduation plus a diploma in computer science from a recognized institute of technology, specializing in database systems, including courses in physical database design, administration, Computer Aided Systems Engineering (C.A.S.E.) tools and security. Requires three (3) years experience in database design and administration in a similar technical environment. A further period of up to one (1) year in the position to become familiar with the Information Systems department’s policies and standards, its database product and interfaces with other products, and the database management system.

Other Information


Experience with SQL server and Oracle is an asset.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule


37.5 hours per week.


This position is full time temporary till April 14th, 2024.

Hybrid


This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.

Rate of Pay


Salary: $7,255- $ 8,725 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
