Job Delivery Driver in London

Summary

This position enables staff to carry out the mission of the London Public Library in providing public library services by picking up and delivering materials in a timely, efficient and safe manner to all locations, partners and users. Reporting to the Supervisor, Facility Services, the Delivery Driver also performs minor building maintenance and related functions.

Accountabilities

1. Deliveries

· Picks up, sorts and delivers books, mail and other materials on a daily basis, including materials for the Financial Services department to Library locations,using Library vehicles in a safe and efficient manner and ensuring security of vehicle and contents.

· Delivers items for Friends of the Library annual book sale and Library Book Store.

· Picks up, delivers and moves furniture, equipment etc., as required, i.e. new location start-ups, location renovations.

· Performs work in compliance with all applicable legislation, codes and Library policy and procedures.

· Maintains Library vehicles in a neat and clean condition.

· Monitors vehicle performance and reports vehicle operational problems to the Supervisor, Facility Services.

2. Facilities Department Support

· Supports work of the shipping/receiving function by packing materials for outgoing shipment of materials; unpacking incoming materials and arranging for distribution.

· Performs minor building maintenance work and minor repairs on buildings and furniture, such as painting walls, replacing light bulbs, changing clock batteries, etc. system-wide as required.

· Sets up/takes down rooms with tables, chairs, equipment, etc. for meetings and events.

· Performs work of the Caretaker as required.

· Performs related duties and undertakes special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

· Completion of Grade 12 secondary school program or equivalent.

· Current and valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.

· Proven experience driving a truck.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in an automated environment.
