About the Role


The work of a Distribution Supervisor is integral to Canadian Blood Services’ role as Canada’s Lifeline. In this role, you will be responsible for filling hospital blood products requests across the Maritimes region. Blood products include blood components processed by Canadian Blood Service and plasma protein products. The Supervisor position is great opportunity for an exceptional coach and mentor who is able to lead and motive staff, provide clear goals while building a high performance team. In this role you will be on-call overnights and weekends as required; some travel is expected.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the Distribution operation while creating a positive working environment in which staff feel empowered, challenged and engaged.
  • Manage team and individual performance to ensure safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives are met in Dartmouth and Saint John, NB.
  • Coach the workforce to ensure that processes are performed effectively, efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure staffing levels are sufficient to run the operation.
  • Provide input to the Production Manager on annual budget and capital planning processes.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement efforts with front line and cross functional participation.
  • Recognize problems and encourage team to problem solve using continuous improvement tools.
  • Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Canadian Blood Services’ Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains relationships with Hospitals regarding orders, delivery times etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution in a science related subject.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervisory role.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in at least one of the following environments: manufacturing, distribution, hospital service.
  • Operational experience in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Quality Assurance environment.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience with the application of continuous improvement principles is an asset.
  • Experience with Inventory Management is an asset.
  • Experience with Customer Service is an asset.
  • Demonstrated team building and motivation skills including constructive conflict resolution.
  • Excellent English communication skills (clear and concise in both verbal and written communication).
  • Computer literacy skills, including but not restricted to spreadsheet development.
  • Experience with SAP and eProgesa is an asset.
