Job Entry Level Help Desk Technician in Toronto

This is an entry-level role with a 1-year contract with the potential to become permanent. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Junior Help Desk Specialist is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and enhancing the IT infrastructure. This position is best suited for an individual with a firm understanding of software and hardware troubleshooting and who can provide full support in a diverse operating environment for onsite and remote users.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide first-line support and technical assistance to internal (on-site and remote) and external users
  • Troubleshoot, configure, deploy hardware and software, and ensure workstation configuration is consistent across user groups
  • Maintain, upgrade, and replace workstations
  • Perform application installation, re-installation, configuration, and upgrades
  • Manage Office 365 environment, and Spam filters
  • Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of new staff
  • Maintain and repair desktop and zebra printers
  • Manage Ring Central phone system
  • Perform password resets for users
  • Capacity planning and system upgrades
  • Maintain battery backups for users
  • Identify system and process improvement opportunities
  • Execute security procedures for safeguarding hardware and software physical and virtual assets
  • Track hardware inventory and communicate resource requirements
  • Assist with hardware and software setup for business presentations and trade shows
  • Support the IT Manager and Project Manager

Skills required

  • Diploma or education focused on computer science or related field.
  • Excellent command of the English language (oral and written)
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management with the ability to prioritize multiple conflicting priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • A strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn
  • Strong ability to resolve technical challenges and research solutions
  • Working knowledge of Windows 7, 10, and 11, MS Office 365
  • Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals
  • Working knowledge of Ring Central phone systems a plus
  • Microsoft and/or CompTIA A+ Certification(s) a plus

Work environment

  • Must be able to work in an office and warehouse setting including lift to 50lbs.
