Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Planning and Analysis, the Financial Planning and Analysis Manager is responsible for supporting the creation of the annual plan, forecasts, short and long term projected income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
Responsibilities:
- Support the creation of the annual Plan and Forecasts
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partners to prepare and analyze monthly/quarterly/annual financials
- Develop the three- and five-year projections (Profit and loss statements, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow including capital ratios) annually in support of the corporate strategic plan and the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)
- Maintain regular contact with internal business groups for the purpose of exchanging information relating to market, forecast assumptions and other financial matters impacting the P&L
- Own the management reports and presentations for senior management and incorporate guidance from the Director and VP of FP&A
- Be an agent of change for the department by identifying and recommending solutions and improvements to processes and systems (e.g. drive improvements and structure of key excel workbooks used for Planning and Forecasting)
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the Senior Financial Analysts in the delivery of high quality work
- Lead ad hoc analysis as required
- University degree in finance, business or accounting
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or MBA
- 7-10 years of experience in corporate finance, preferably in the financial services industry
- In-depth planning and analysis experience including projecting balance sheets, cash flows, and capital ratios
- Ability to identify key business drivers and synthesize information for use in creating multiyear projections
- Strong analytical skills (theory and application) supporting decision making when limited information is available
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Skilled in synthesizing unstructured data in order to create insightful management reports and presentations for the leadership team, shareholders, and board of directors
- Advanced Excel skills are required and knowledge of workbook optimization and version control would be an asset
- High level of comfort using the full suite of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Knowledge of database structure and principles would be an asset
