JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Help Desk Support Technician provides first-level technical support to our Junior School students and staff. This involves responding to requests for IT assistance from staff and students, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and providing solutions for various applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides first-level support to the Help Desk and assists with monitoring the IT ticket queue by handling requests or distributing specific issues to the appropriate team member or external vendor as required
  • Assists staff and students with both hardware and software issues on a one-to-one basis
  • Supports the day-to-day management of the Junior School campus technology equipment in collaboration with the Director of Technology and the Middle & Senior School campus Help Desk Support
  • Sets-up and tears down AV equipment as required for various events at the School
  • Responsible for the management of all store-room equipment, preparing equipment for teachers as needed, ensuring batteries are charged, etc.
  • Ensures that the Equipment Database is kept up-to-date with all new acquisitions, deployment and repair/maintenance status of equipment in use at the Junior School
  • Supports all extra-curricular events that involve the use of technology, including after-hours events/programs at the Junior School
  • Participates as a member of the larger LIT Department to assist with technology-related tasks such as Open the Box events, preparing images for the next school year etc.
  • May be called upon to support the Middle & Senior School campus from time to time


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Post secondary education in a related field and 1 year of experience in a similar role
  • Has expert knowledge of Google Workspace, voice systems (Cisco and VoIP), Microsoft 365 and Mac operating systems
  • Has the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and adjust priorities accordingly
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate and provide technical and problem solving support to students and staff
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written, communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrates strong troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving skills with a focus on creative resolution and continuous improvement
  • Displays a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Ability to work independently and on various tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • A proactive team player who is flexible and self-motivated with a “How can I help?” attitude

WORKING REQUIREMENTS:
  • TYS Campus, Toronto Ontario
  • Occasional early morning or evening work required
  • Occasional lifting (approximately 10kg), servicing equipment using hand tools and working in confined spaces
