Housekeeping Supervisor

SUMMARY:

The Supervisor position follows the lead of the Housekeeping Manager to direct the operational areas related to Housekeeping, Laundry, and Cleaning. He/she is responsible for providing housekeeping services to the guests of the hotel; creating, supervising and maintaining all policies and procedures as it pertains to the Housekeeping department's operations and standards; and providing leadership to the employees of the department. The Supervisor will lead the Housekeeping Department in the absence of the Housekeeping Management as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct daily inspections of all areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Housekeeping department. Maintain the hotel as per the Marriott Quality Assurance standards. Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness throughout all guest rooms, corridors and staff areas.

Assist with training new room attendants on the hotel cleaning procedures and brand standards.

Ensure the smooth operation of the Housekeeping department by assisting in the operations a required with a hand’s on approach leading by example including the cleaning of guest rooms.

Complete documented room inspections with a goal to enter all vacant ready (VR) suites.

Assist with Inventories, receiving, deliveries, and replenishing supplies

Assist in Laundry and cleaning rooms as required.

Ensure that the maximum number of bedrooms is available to meet operational requirements.

Maintain a control system for all inventory, and controls of Lost and Found and respond to lost and found inquiries. Prepare returns for shipping prior to submitting to the accounting office for delivery arrangements.

Maintain cleanliness of the overall department including but not limited to storerooms, office, room attendant carts and general receiving area. Oversee cleanliness of staff room.

In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager verify daily room variance report and explain/confirm discrepancies, sign off as accurate with the Accounting Manager.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays. General arrival time for work is between 8:00 am (Monday- Saturday) – 8:30 am-9:00am/ (Sundays and Holidays)

Opening and Closing duties of the Housekeeping department as required.

Daily Suite assignment to Room attendants noting special request, maintaining linen change days, pet tracking, late check outs, early departures, stay extensions and early departures.

Ensure compliance and maintain records through charts of daily productivity reports of rooms cleaned per day by Room Attendant, Sofa Bed Pull out records, Pet Care rooms and Quarterly General Cleans.

Computer use required.

Generate maintenance work orders within the department for distribution to the Maintenance department. Utilize a record keeping system to follow up on any items incomplete.

React and respond to special reservation requests for allergy friendly rooms to prepare to the best of the hotels ability.

Will be required to perform the duties of the associates within the department. Daily operations can often include an unexpected increase or decrease in business levels, staffing shortages, emergencies and /or an immediate assistance to a guest service request. Areas to assist include, cleaning of guest rooms, operating the functions of the hotel laundry, receiving and delivering product.

Attend meetings as required and other duties as assigned

The position does require handling heavy loads up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling carts up to 150 pounds, standing for extended periods, walking, and bending, crouching and kneeling. The position is required to perform the duties of a fast paced environment which includes physical demands and meeting deadlines.

Full time position combining both Housekeeping and Supervisory duties.

Previous experience in a hotel or similar housekeeping environment required.
