The role

We are rapidly growing the District Energy side of our business and are looking for an IT Manager-Hybrid to join our team in Langley, BC . We are looking for someone with a depth and breadth of knowledge in their field. This role will work closely with and provide expert council to executive leadership. The primary responsibility of the IT Manager is to oversee the delivery of all IT and Cybersecurity services and to ensure they align with the business objectives of the organization. This individual’s principal goals are to ensure that the technology needs of the organization remain aligned with business, and that identified IT service levels are met for customer agreements and the user community within the organization.

What you’ll do

  • Formulate and deploy long-term strategic plans for acquiring and enabling efficient and cost-effective technology infrastructure platforms, enterprise applications and collaboration technologies.
  • Develop and oversee the organizations cybersecurity and governance program.
  • Develop and manage IT budget and ensure they comply with stated goals, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Oversee IT services delivery and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning & delivery, end-user and application serviced desk functions, and negotiating the allocation of resources and support vendors.
  • Implement & manage all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Direct and supervise staff, participating in recruitment, selection, orientation, training, and evaluation of employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Coordinates and facilitates consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Negotiate and manage 3rd party service agreements for IT Services, application support and project delivery.
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Maintain a risk management process to evaluate and identify criticality of cyber risks against the enterprise assets and prioritize the remediation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise incident response program and oversee all investigations into problematic activity and provide on-going communication with organizational leadership.
  • Oversees any vulnerability audits and assessments in conjunction with Internal Audit and/or third parties.

What you bring

Experience

  • Minimum of seven years of related work experience.
  • Experience preparing and managing departmental budgets.
  • Experience preparing and managing vendor contracts.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study.

Nice to Have

  • Billing, Asset Management, SCADA preferred.
  • Utility industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to adapt to new technologies, situations, and expectations.
  • Strong ability to communicate creative ideas and elicit feedback.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to compromise to find satisfactory solutions with others.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and resources throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft suite of applications including M365.
