Job IT Manager in Toronto

The IT Infrastructure Manager role is responsible to recognize responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing IT security and infrastructure services across the organization, while measuring and improving service delivery per standards, policies, and procedures. This is inclusive but not limited to; security systems, networks, servers, user devices, storage systems, backup and recovery systems, data communications, telecommunications, and unified communications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that security and infrastructure platforms are analyzed, monitored, and maintained for optimal system security and performance, while monitoring security policy, procedures, and risk mitigation across all existing and new locations.
  • To develop and oversee the implementation and maintenance of a disaster recovery plan for IT operations and production systems.
  • Coordinate responses to emergency production issues, determining the best principles and practices in cases related to software and hardware assets.
  • This is very hands-on role where you will be required onsite, to get involved in various tasks right down to installations and repairs. With locations across many communities, you will travel from locations across Southern Ontario for regular observation, assessments, and as required.
  • For the new locations the organization develops, you will play a key role in “lighting up” upon construction (guiding principles, floor plan, wiring diagrams, deployment of devices).
  • Through your maintenance and supervision, you will be expected to create reports and presentations for senior leadership on service and infrastructure strategy.
  • You will manage the strategic planning, ensuring consistency with the company’s mandate and objectives.
  • You will thoughtfully provide input to project planning, intake, prioritization, resource capacity planning, and project portfolio program management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • You need to evaluate and recommend technology as suited, to achieve cost effective use of resources and timely service.
  • You will be accountable for the IT operations and support team, overseeing the technical workforce within the organization. As the organization also services external clientele for both professional and personal use, it is expected that services are offered and maintained at a standard of excellence that is consistent with company expectations.
  • You will have full supervision in managing customer service, including first and second level support delivered through the service desk.
  • You will be expected to recognize responsibility acting as the subject matter experts for customers, ensuring cooperation to fulfill service requests and resolve operational incidents and problems.
  • You are expected to delegating responsibilities where appropriate, calculating risk management, and monitoring team members, keeping track of progress and growth.
  • You will know when to ask thought provoking questions and provide necessary resources while encouraging creativity.
  • You will be responsible for not changing but enhancing the culture within the team and closing the gap between individuals whose roles are more contained. Part of your objective will be to create a high performance workplace, one that is inclusive and collaborative with cross-functional teams.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Self-motivated, motivating, and driven individual with strong communication skills and a roll-up-your sleeves attitude. You are positive, solution oriented, and most importantly you have the vision and culture of the organization top of mind.
  • Must have strong background in computer science or IT networking field, and have expert knowledge in the areas of security and privacy, platform management, and infrastructure.
  • Experience must span into operations and service management, having first hand worked with customers both internally and externally.
  • Have PMP and/or the necessary management skills used to plan and develop objectives, coordinate multiple projects, delegate appropriately, and problem solve as required.
  • Technology is something you take pride in being up to date on and are comfortable using project management tools.
  • Strong experience in sophisticated planning, understanding of business models, and financial modelling in your tool-belt. Demonstrated effectiveness working across multiple business units to achieve results.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; the ability to analyze problems and develop actionable and appropriate tactical plans quickly.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • University Degree (preferably in computer science, Engineering or Information Technology)
  • 7+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure management experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on IT networking, camera installations, security experience
  • Should have experience in project management (PMP) and leading team
  • MBA degree is an asset
  • Certification for Networking, routing, switching and server configurations
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project and the entire Microsoft stack.

  • The position is located in Toronto. This is NOT a remote working role.
  • Occasional travel to Ottawa or others will be required for training or business needs arise.
