Job IT Manager in Toronto

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for plan, develop and manage IT services, needs and support throughout the hotel.
  • Maintenance of IT equipment, servers, programming, software and hardware for team/hotel.
  • Order computer equipment as necessary.
  • Assist with capacity planning for network bandwidth, storage requirements and other applications.
  • Set up IT/phone etc. equipment as it is delivered.
  • Ensure that the phone system is operational and that the hotel has enough phone lines and the needed capabilities.
  • Maintain confidential data on a secure part of the server to prevent unauthorized access to information.
  • File and archive all IT related documents (i.e., requisitions, software licenses, software locations, certifications & renewal etc.).
  • Maintain files of warranties for equipment and contacts suppliers as needed for equipment issues.
  • Document all defective parts for units and track return progress.
  • Ensure that the server has adequate room for the demands that will be placed on it (including overseas teleconferencing, etc.).
  • Stay up to date on all changes in the information technology industry and make suggestions to management accordingly.
  • Negotiate with third party vendors for IT needs, as necessary.
  • To suggest appropriate pricing for new and/or refurbished technical equipment.
  • Monitor the IT budget and inform management, when prior to technical requirements surpass budgetary limits.
  • Participate in all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
  • Provide training to end users on hardware and software as needed.
  • Prepare monthly forecasts with network administrators of IT work/projects to be done in the coming month and gain approval from Dir. Of Finance and GM.
  • Manage all major/special projects and implementation and ensure all parties (outside partners, vendors, consultants) are aware of timelines.
  • Act as a technical resource and provide expertise and guidance for internal and external inquiries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing while monitoring receivables for the IT department.
  • Produce regular reports (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects and discuss with GM on bi-weekly meetings.
  • Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the hotel and any applicable business partners.
  • Create Opera & Windows, email accounts and network file access for hotel employees, as well as other system access/logins which vary by department
  • Work closely with team/Network Administrators/consultants on all IT related issues. Managing issues/tickets as they arise and ensuring a timely resolution for team members/guests.
  • Track all issues/tickets and reconcile with monthly invoices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in computer science, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of direct work experience in an IT management capacity required.
  • Hotel experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of networking, operating system, phone systems and server architectures.
  • Good working knowledge of programming concepts, software development cycles, and associated tools platforms.
  • Strong evidence of time management skills required, including ability to prioritize data recovery and repair of system infrastructure above all other duties.
  • Able to quickly analyze issues and determine best course of action using available resources.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive attitude, motivated, team player, well organized, efficient, informative.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
