Position Description
Reporting to the Director of R&D Operations, the successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day function of the lab. Duties with include general laboratory maintenance, such as : maintaining/servicing scientific equipment, overseeing laboratory safety practices, assisting in purchasing of new equipment, managing reagent and supply inventory, performing some general laboratory tasks . The Laboratory/Facilities Manager may also be responsible for the general maintenance of entire facility such as communicating with 3rdparties for cleaning and building maintenance. Proficiency in techniques such as qPCR or cell culture maintenance is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Purchasing of lab supplies and inventory management/ documentation
- Assist with purchasing new lab equipment
- Ability to communicate with vendors to manage/negotiate laboratory costs
- Equipment upkeep, including routine QC and maintenance
- Laboratory safety
- Communicate with 3rd parties for facility upkeep such as janitorial service, building maintenance
- Maintain cell culture if qualified
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in a relevant biological field and minimum 2 years experience in laboratory management
- Experience with GDP and GLP
- Experience with cell culture
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR and cell culture is an asset
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Proven attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate as an effective team player while working independently and within timelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication
