MANAGER, RETAIL SERVICES

Swartz Bay


Reporting to the Director, Retail Services you will be responsible for the development and implementation of BC Ferries’ retail strategy and policy. Retail program maverick with extensive experience implementing efficient, cost-effective retail programs emphasizing customer service in accordance with corporate goals.


Responsibilities
  • Proven ability to inspire, coach and motivate a team to reach its goals;
  • Designing, implementing and evaluating the Corporation’s retail program and executing strategies, consistent with corporate policy, to drive sales and maximum margins;
  • Ensuring strong visual, advertising and promotional strategies and establishing and implanting pricing and margin strategies to support revenue objectives;
  • Developing and monitoring performance measures for the retail program;
  • Conducting market research to identify new customers, vendors, products and trends;
  • Assessing and approving the retail product acquisition of $9M to support retail and contracted sales of $18.5M;
  • Developing and implementing loss prevention strategies to ensure shrinkage targets are achieved;

In addition, the right individual will be leading and managing the Retail Department by managing and reporting on retail sales, gross margin and retail operational budgets all while promoting a commitment to excellence and safety through inspirational leadership and communication.


Ideally, you combine your completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, and Purchasing Certificate (PMAC) with 5+ years’ experience at a senior management level in a large, multi-unit retail organization. However, a combination of education and experience that includes managing a large buying and merchandising function that follows product from concept to market, and directing a skilled visual display team to achieve revenue objectives is also highly desirable in a candidate.


Specific technical competencies include: managing third party service and supply contracts, margins, maximizing financial yields and supply chain management and a strong capacity to develop successful retail strategies. Also, capabilities in purchasing and project plans and 3+ years’ experience with a retail inventory system are part of what rounds out what makes you a great fit.
