Plasman, Windsor 3 Manufacturing is immediately seeking a new member to join our team as:

Operations Manager

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for managing, updating, and ensuring sufficient resources are available for the Operations groups while ensuring compliance to all Quality and Business Operating System requirements and promoting continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and motivate all employees as a team to achieve all expectations and targets set for the facility
  • Assist General Manager in managing the operations to ensure no negative variances and expeditiously correcting variances as they arise
  • Work with the direct management team to ensure all customer requirements are met, and interact with the customer as necessary
  • Work with the Plasman management team to ensure all expectations and targets are met for the organization
  • Assist in development & implementation of Quality and Business Operating systems
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives relative to the production departments
  • Develop a team atmosphere by utilizing cross-functional teams during planning and implementation reviews which should include all levels of employees
  • Monitor and report the goals for each department through the effective use of the objectives of the performance management program (PMP)
  • Meet company requirements for annual completion of subordinates PMP
  • Develop and review plant production & capacity plans and associated inventory targets
  • Monitor and exceed customer satisfaction targets
  • Ensure that sufficient resources are available for each department including training, safety standards, personnel, business and shop tools through regular business meetings
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in all areas of the business
  • Actively support and direct lean initiatives
  • Participate in the development and execution, and if required, communicate any corrective action requests made by the customer
  • Manage and insure the development and communication of any supplier or customer constraint plans
  • Assist and lead by example to ensure compliance to TS/ISO standards and participation in Audits (internal and external) and Management reviews
  • Participate in monthly JHSC meetings and accident investigations if required
  • Direct managers & supervisors in maintaining positive employee relations and a safe work environment
  • During management system audit events provide evidence in support of conformance with applicable standards and procedures and participate in corrective action activities as necessary.
  • Promote an atmosphere of teamwork at all times
  • Complete any other duties as assigned

  • Ensure that all employees receive proper training and understand all job tasks

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a post-secondary diploma or equivalent designation or equivalent experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering, with preference given to those who have completed some or all of a College/University level program
  • Must have a minimum of 7 years progressive experience in plant operations within a large automotive environment, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles
  • Experience with GM, Honda, and Toyota production systems, with a preference to candidates with experience in lean manufacturing or Toyota productions systems
  • Understanding of expectations detailed through Organization Statements, Standards, Visions, Policies and Procedures (i.e. Mission, Values, Code of Conduct, Operational, Quality, and Environmental Health & Safety) as referenced in Employee Handbooks and communicated through Orientation and/or other training awareness opportunities
  • Ability to perform well in high pressure situations
  • Possess strong business acumen with good understanding of customer measurables and a solid understanding of equipment and processes used within the automotive industry
  • Capable of independent travel to, from and within designated regions
  • Meets expectation rating (rating score of 2 or 3) in all applicable competencies as defined in the Performance Management Process
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Must be capable of performing the essential duties which include maximum safe lifts to the 75th percentile of the employee as determined by acceptable standards
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-motivated team player
