The Retail Operations Manager (ROM) is responsible for the operational excellence of the Samsung Experience Stores. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders the ROM will manage daily operations activities including inventory conditioning, vendor management, asset management, loss prevention and security. This includes working closely with the store operator, external vendors, visual merchandising, logistics and IT departments. In addition, the ROM monitors KPI’s including post-mortem analysis and reports. The ROM is also responsible for external business & operations related communications related to business term negotiation, contracts, and approvals.
Role and Responsibilities
Operations Strategy:
  • Develop short-term and long-term strategies and plans aimed at improving efficiencies and reducing costs
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, logistics, IT and store operator to support sales initiatives
  • Manage operational budget including annual expenses forecast
  • Develop KPI’s and reports to monitor trends and provide insights
  • Support store expansion initiatives including kiosk and special projects
  • Ad-hoc and regular reports to the executives on key plans and results
Operations Execution:
  • Data management and reporting operational metrics daily, weekly and monthly (expenses, inventory counts, returns and reconciliations etc.)
  • Ensure processes and procedures are clearly defined for Samsung Experience Stores (SES)
  • Ensure all expenses and budgets are properly accounted for in the finance system
  • Oversee the monthly inventory count process including display management
  • Work closely with visual merchandiser and 3rd party vendor to ensure display units are working properly in stores
  • Manage the returns process, including reporting and auditing activities
  • Perform audit and compliance reviews of Samsung processes and procedures through site visits
  • Work closely with training team to incorporate operations training for new and existing SES managers
  • Lead internal projects (and activities) tracking, reporting and weekly meetings
  • Work with Legal department to ensure contract renewals, new vendor onboarding and/or contract cancellations are up to date and reflected in our internal systems
  • Ensure terms and conditions for promotions and sales activities are approved by the legal department and communicated to the SES operator accordingly
Vendor Management:
  • Manage business relationships with external partners (Operator, various Service providers)
  • Ensure store maintenance and repair activities are performed with the highest standards of execution by all vendors. This includes follow up site visits pre and post repair
  • Manage insurance claims and related reconciliation of funds
  • Ensure store security and accessibility meets internal and external compliance standards. (alarms, doorways, elevator maintenance, bathrooms and general plumbing, heating and A/C)
  • Manage business negotiations and all contract related matters
  • Conduct regular business reviews with internal and external teams to identify opportunities and co-develop solutions to drive operational success
Skills and Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree/College Diploma or related experience
  • 5-7 years experience in retail operations, project management, vendor management or related experience
  • Demonstrated people management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and competency using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Possess exceptional organizational & planning skills including attention to detail
  • Highly developed communication & interpersonal skills, able to build relationships and interact comfortably with a wide range of levels in the organization: from senior executives to support staff within and outside of the company.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Proven ability to function effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel overseas, across Canada
  • Able to work extended hours and weekends when required
