Job Product Development Coordinator in Calgary

We are looking to hire someone full-time to take on a multi-faceted role within our Product Development, Production, and Food Safety Departments. We are searching for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated person to help us maintain amazing food quality and freshness! This role is for someone who enjoys multiple tasks to complete throughout their shift and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are comfortable owning a task from start to finish and you take the initiative to make continuous process improvements. You observe strict deadlines and hold yourself accountable for your deliverables. As the role of Product Development Coordinator touches on multiple areas and teams, you’re strong, proactive, and clear communication skills are of the utmost importance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the product development team in preparing individual food items in a manner consistent with our specifications. This includes preparation of singular produce items; washing, cutting, and in some cases roasting produce and pantry items.
  • Maintaining food safety practices—we pride ourselves on our facility's high food safety controls and procedures. It is important that you both understand and are able to maintain an exceptional level of food and work safety including clean food prep areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • PH test all dressings/dips during sample production, document and record on pH master sheet. pH all dressings during shelf-life testing
  • Conduct shelf-life tests on all new, required products. This includes individual ingredients, dressings/dips, and composed products. Document, file, and maintain all shelf life and pH observations according to protocol.
  • Work with our food safety team to ensure new products fulfill food safety protocols before launch.
  • Make recommendations on how to increase and preserve quality and freshness based on observations. This includes but is not limited to substituting ingredients, different cuts, or removal of certain ingredients.
  • Create and maintain an ingredient yield database that is provided to both procurement and production teams.
  • Create and maintain an ingredient and product specification database.
  • Working with the Commissary Production Lead on these specifications to prepare them for training the production team on new products and launches.
  • Creating a recipe database of all in-house made recipes.
  • Overseeing initial production day for new launches alongside the production team lead. Communicating any issues to production, development and procurement teams.
  • Prepares Production Scoop sheets and gathers all information (food safety documentation) for Launch Package to provide to Product Development Manager.
  • Monitors Inspired Go production test runs and pinpoints key areas to improve upon.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in kitchen or food production-related industry
  • A strong understanding of food, flavors, and textures
  • Ability to taste and test all ingredients, no dietary restrictions
  • Previous training experience.
  • Ability to multi-task between duties, roles, and teams
  • Adaptable to changing protocols
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work alone and as a key member of multiple teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly
  • A passion for food and people
  • An understanding of food science and nutrition is an asset but not required

About you:

As a key member of the Product Development, Food Safety, and Production teams, we are looking for someone that can take direction well, collaborate with multiple teams, communicate effectively, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and submit everything on time, every time. This is a very important junior role with the potential to grow. It is important to understand that this role focuses on documentation and database maintenance.

Schedule:

  • Hours are full-time between Monday to Friday OR Tuesday to Saturday.
  • Start and end times can be flexible between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM.
  • Role will report to the Product Development Manager.
