Role Mandate

Working with other members of the Product Development team, other internal IIBA stakeholders and contributors from IIBA’s global community, the Product Manager - Certifications is responsible for leading the work to update existing IIBA certifications or create new ones. This work will support IIBA’s strategic efforts to serve and engage members, support new membership growth, and advance the business analysis profession globally.


The Product Manager - Certfications manages certification exam creation through the complete product lifecycle by identifying community needs, conducting market research, discovering certification requirements, determining specifications, developing production timetables, and leading the development of the exam.


Accountabilities


Business Analysis Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Provide expertise on business analysis topics
  • Monitor trends and new developments in the business analysis discipline, practices and profession and to identify impact to IIBA certifications
  • Support internal IIBA stakehodlers and the global business analysis Community with certificaiton-related information

Assess Community Needs:

  • Determine requirements for various certifications through engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Assess certification-related market data by engaging the global business analysis community and evaluating feedback
  • Identify needs and requirements based on sound elicitation techniques or research with the global business analysis community
  • Perform competitive research and analysis to identify gaps and potential for new IIBA certifications
  • Recommend changes to existing IIBA certifications

Manage Certification Development:

  • Evolve existing IIBA certifications
  • Evaluate current IIBA certifications against market needs and recommend changes to existing IIBA certifications with input from intern stakeholders
  • Plan future updates of IIBA certifications
  • Manage certification development across the complete product lifecycle from conception to integration into our existing products
  • Provide source data for certification-related communications to support the certification program, product marketing and communication objectives
  • Assess certification requirements and determine specifications with input from external stakeholders
  • Develop certification-related information and support materials for IIBA members and Chapters
  • Support marketing strategies and product launch activities with input from internal stakeholders
  • Participate in discussions on social media in support of IIBA certifications, as needed

Create New Certifications:

  • Identify potential new certifications to leverage opportunities and address challenges as identified through information elicitation activities and community engagement
  • Plan and market new certifications by developing integrated plans in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage certification development working with key stakeholders and engaging volunteers, as needed

Skills and Experience


  • CBAP or core IIBA certification is preferred – if not currently certified, applicants must be able to become certified within one year of hiring
  • Bachelor’s degree, college diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years working as a business analysis professional
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong communication and skills
  • Strong understanding of competency development
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Experience with product research and development
  • Personality to motivate and engage diverse stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills and achievement orientation
  • Ability to manage an indirec, diverse, virtual team
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with product research and certificaiton-related offerings
  • Prior experience working with a global and/or virtual organization would be considered an asset
  • Prior experience working with volunteers locally and globally would be an asset
