PROGRAMMER

Summary of the Programmer

The Programmer is responsible for coding, writing, and testing software applications and systems across the organization as well as designing and making approved changes in flow charts, processing logic, and code. The Programmer will test and document all modifications, operational instructions, and fixed errors throughout the development/production life cycle. Where applicable, the Programmer shall also analyze and determine departmental computer programming needs.

Training will be conducted onsite at our Newcastle Ontario. Once training is fulfilled, hybrid options will be available

Job Duties of a Programmer

  • Perform routine programming assignments according to project requirements, programming procedures, and data processing needs.
  • Review application design and processing activities to ensure that project requirements and needs are met.
  • Determine requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, operating system, interfaces with other application, and outputs.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and test program coding prior to implementation to ensure the application is ready for production operation.
  • Correct any coding errors uncovered throughout the testing phase; clearly document all changes made.
  • Confer with users and other programmers to determine application goals, or required modifications to existing applications.
  • Collaborate with the user community to resolve specific problems or make changes to applications.
  • Perform ongoing monitoring of deployed applications to ensure maximum intended performance.
  • Delete unnecessary code script from company systems and applications as necessary.
  • Conduct in-depth research on forthcoming programming trends, tools, languages, and standards.
  • Schedule and perform regular improvements, patches, fixes, and other upgrades or maintenance.
  • Work with network administrators, analysts, and engineers to assist to resolve problems with applications and software systems.
  • Coach and mentor junior programmers.

Requirements of the Programmer

  • University degree in computer science or information technology preferred, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of direct work experience with application programming languages, such as Java, .NET, Visual Basic 6, HTML, C++. J2EE, etc.
  • Knowledge of SAP Cloud Platform (WEB IDE, PORTAL, User Management/Roles, other tools). SAPUI5 (Front-end, it's a framework, just as REACT, VUE or Angular.SVG (Graphics: Front-end ), ODATA services (Data Exchange),Restful Services ( Data Exchange), JAVA (Back-end), SQL (Using Hana [Production] and ASE [Test] Databases)
  • Direct knowledge of object methodologies and experience with modeling languages, plus familiarity with networking and application distribution.
  • Programming experience with enterprise-level applications, such as SAP, ERP, CRM, BPM, etc.
  • Ability to write concise and accurate technical instructions throughout program development.
  • Ability to troubleshoot programming changes, errors, and subsequent modifications; must be able to do this with the work of other programmers.
  • Experience with computer flow charts and reporting methods.
  • Able to stay abreast of current and future technological developments or trends in the area of programming.
  • Able to interpret the operational requirements of end users, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Self-starter and highly motivated to make proactive changes.
  • Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback from superiors.
  • Effective deadline management and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of service level agreements and customer service standards.
