Join the Waste Services Branch at the City of Edmonton as a Project Coordinator to support the project planning, execution, reporting, and management to assist with the successful implementation of the 25-year Waste Strategy projects, namely, the Apartment and Condo Program. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.   • Project Execution Support
    • Creates a research plan
    • Establishes the focus of the research and defines a clear question for research
    • Plan for the collection and evaluation of industry and academic research related to the research question
    • Review and summarize the research in a report for the project manager and Waste Services Leadership Team
    • Makes recommendations for action that are based on that research and shares them in a coherent and succinct presentation
    • Manage or coordinate contractor activities to ensure the scope of work is fulfilled
    • Support the execution of any changes required to the performance measurement methodologies
    • Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis and present findings
    • Conduct fieldwork including assessments, inspections, progress checks, etc. as required
    • Support the execution of stakeholder engagement
    • Comply with the 25-year Strategy, applicable policies, directives, guidelines and processes
  • Project Planning Support
    • Support the development of project schedules and logistic planning (e.g. site assessments, vehicle routing)
    • Support the Communal Collection program
    • Support the development and delivery of communication tactics and educational materials
    • Support the planning of stakeholder engagement (residents, organizations, City Council etc.)
    • Support with internal and external change management
    • Support the development of implementation plans
  • Project Reporting & Management Support
    • Monitor project costs, schedule and progress
    • Help with developing project update reports
    • Liaise with stakeholders in the City as required
    • Attend and/or chair meetings and prepare and present presentations as required
    • Maintain and follow up on project action logs
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a degree in a related field such as in Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Planning; Business; Communication; Health Sciences; Commerce; Marketing and a minimum of two (2) years directly related experience in project management that includes project coordination, contract management, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and stakeholder engagement, including experience in the waste management field OR Completion of a diploma in a related field such as in Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Planning; Business; Communication; Commerce; Marketing and a minimum of four (4) years directly related experience in project management that includes project coordination, contract management, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and stakeholder engagement, including experience in the waste management field
  • Knowledge and experience in waste collection and processing is an asset
  • Experience in customer service and stakeholder engagement is required
  • Experience in report writing is required
  • Experience in research and quantitative and qualitative analysis is required
  • Experience in MS Office and Google applications is required
  • Knowledge of change management frameworks and tools
  • Strong technical acumen with comprehensive data analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and facilitation skills
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Well developed planning, time management, and priority setting skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment under limited supervision using sound professional judgement
  • Ability to effectively interact, communicate, influence, and collaborate with a variety of partners and stakeholders, including senior management, other COE staff, and contractors
  • Exhibits strong skills in collaboration, teamwork and fostering a positive work environment
  • Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a requirement for this position
  • Hire is dependent on Police Information check satisfactory to City of Edmonton
  • The successful candidate will be required to occasionally work outside regular working hours (evenings and weekends)
