Job Sales Associate in Edmonton

This position is responsible to ensure customer satisfaction through receiving, generating and processing sales orders, preparing general correspondence and co-ordinating service needs. This position also serves as customer contact for such matters as pricing, scheduling and delivery. This position is also responsible to assist in the yard, warehouse, complete customer orders, receive incoming shipments, re-stock inventory, pack and load orders for shipment and complete all necessary documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible to ensure pipe shop and storage yard is properly maintained in a clean and orderly manner; products, materials and machinery are moved and stored in a safe fashion
  • Responsible to ensure order is complete, report any shortages, discrepancies or problems to supervision, bundle and load onto trucks as required/requested, complete and file documentation
  • Responsible to receive sales orders from customers by phone, fax, email or via sales representatives; enters all information required for order picking into the system; transcribes all non stock material in orders to material control for purchasing purposes
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and administrative duties in warehouse.
  • Responsible to resolve customer issues and/or problems; liaise with outside sales, accounting/credit department, materials control and warehouse to investigate and resolve issues; recommends improvements and corrective actions
  • Responsible to prepare sales and delivery quotations; communicate quotes and product specifications; liaises with warehouse personnel to co-ordinate deliveries with customers; follows up as required/requested
  • Respond to warehouse inquiries as required/requested; liaise with sales personnel as required/requested, to actively assist in the identification, communication and correction of warehouse errors
  • Demonstrate selling techniques to increase sales through use and promotion of complimentary and/or substitution products and specially priced items, pro-actively contacts customers as required/requested, reports on customer activity
  • Responsible to follow up on direct shipments from suppliers to customers to ensure order delivery and billing is completed and timely; prepares documentation for customer returned material to stock and/or to the supplier
  • Responsible to remain current with Company products and services
  • Assist to locate and pick product and materials as per customer order requirements, use computer information or paper documentation to build order to completion, tag/label and prepare order for shipment, ensure all documentation relating to customer order is complete and filed
  • Responsible to follow daily delivery schedule to ensure orders are picked and completed on time and in proper sequencing for efficient loading
  • Responsible to participate in the Company Health and Safety Program; to undertake training as required/requested; to ensure adherence to all Health and Safety guidelines
  • Assist with physical inventory as required/requested
  • To perform shipper & receiver functions as required/requested
  • Assist with reception duties as required/requested
  • To participate in warehouse physical inventory as required/requested
  • Participate in special sales functions and trade shows as required/requested
  • To assist customers at warehouse sales counters as required/requested
  • Prepare and generate reports as required/requested
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Diploma in Sales/Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • Minimum twenty (20) months experience in a customer service, sales or warehouse environment, preferably with progressive levels of responsibility
  • A combination of education and experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be physically fit (walk, lift, climb)
  • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail
  • Must have capability to be trained and certified to operate mechanical lifting devices (fork lift, overhead crane, boom truck crane, etc)
  • Self starter, well organized with ability to multi task and work to deadline
  • Computer literate, good mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of Pipe, Vales & Fittings (PVF), Mechanical/Industrial, Waterworks & Fire protection is an asset.
