Job Sales Manager in Edmonton

SUMMARY

The Sales and Events Manager will be responsible for carrying out essential tasks related to sales for events, suites and sponsorships. The successful candidate must be able to undertake administrative functions while providing direction and support to others. They will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, profitability, and overall coordination of Century Mile events. Communication with several departments will be key to the success of the candidate. The Sales and Events Manager must provide quality customer service, prepare and administer invoices, arrange sales meetings, aid management staff in proforma reviews and preparation, and oversee Century Mile events. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Focus of this position will be to ensure that the company is achieving growth, meeting sales targets by designing, implementing, and successfully managing strategic sales plans that establish, maintain, and expand the company’s customer base, while retaining and ensuring a strong presence in the market. The Sales and Events Manager position will represent the Century brand to a broad base of consumers and corporations increasing sales through effective application and promotion of the facilities, food and beverage and programs. The Sales and Events Manager will provide input and be supported by marketing campaigns that are focused on offering value and communicating the unique experience at Century’s properties.

The Sales and Events Manager must have the ability to develop strong customer relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the project manager for large events at Century Mile (such as the Canadian Derby).
  • Review and administer the Century Mile sponsorship program.
  • Review and administer the functions and event (external and internal) for Century Mile.
  • Design and implement a strategic business plan with short and long-term sales strategies that expand the company’s customer base and ensures its strong presence in the market.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
  • Responsible for identifying emerging markets and nurturing existing accounting to maximize revenue for both the property and food and beverage facilities.
  • Inform employees in other departments of sales plans and activities.
  • Identify emerging markets and market shares while being fully aware of new products and competition status.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Seasonal events staff as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in marketing is required or equivalent experience. Two (2) or more years of recent and related successful experience in promotions, events, public relations, communications, and sales. Two (2) or more years of related managerial experience. Food and beverage experience would be an asset. Knowledge with computers programs like Excel or Word as well as web-based programs like Ticketmaster

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a clear criminal background check.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have strong speaking skills. Ability to write effective letters and memos. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers or staff members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings. Ability to effectively present information to the employee base, management, and public groups.
