The Advanced Analytics team was created in 2021 to give Ivanhoé Cambridge the tools to transform data into actionable business intelligence. The team embraces an ambitious BI strategy designed to support the Company’s growth and guide it toward data-driven success. This is contingent on having a set of state-of-the-art analytical tools in place to leverage best practices in data science and deliver quantitative insights to drive decision-making.
These activities are supported by a leading-edge market intelligence platform.
More specifically, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Contribute to transitioning the Advanced Analytics team from a pipeline business model with a primarily descriptive reporting mindset to one that generates proactive insights and prescriptive analytics with predictive decision support algorithms that produce tangible, actionable recommendations for achieving business or product-related goals;
  • Collect, clean and transform data from various sources to ensure consistency and precision;
  • Explore and visualize data to build models, spot trends and identify correlations;
  • Conduct statistical analysis to find patterns and insights in the data;
  • Build and update predictive models and machine learning algorithms using statistical and analytics tools;
  • Test and validate the accuracy and efficiency of models and algorithms in order to ensure they meet the Company’s requirements and objectives;
  • Create reports and visualizations to convey analytical results and ideas to key Company players and decision-makers;
  • Work with other team members and stakeholders to ensure that analytics projects are aligned with Ivanhoé Cambridge’s goals and requirements;
  • Develop analytics-driven business recommendations for strategic decision-making purposes;
  • Assist various business lines with their financial processes;
  • Keep up to date on the latest developments in analytics, data science and machine learning in order to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
The key to success
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, finance, mathematics, information technology or engineering; master’s degree preferred;
  • Four or more years of experience in data analytics, statistical modelling and machine learning;
  • Experience in the field of finance
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical methods, data exploration and machine learning algorithms;
  • Solid understanding of programming languages such as Python, R or SQL;
  • Experience working with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI;
  • Proficiency in Agile development practices;
  • Familiarity with real estate management and/or finance, an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Keen problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Efficiency in dealing with key stakeholders and keeping them engaged and aligned with respect to BI delivery plans;
  • Comfort in dealing with ambiguity, setting priorities and working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills;
  • Significant experience in a collaborative, teamwork-based setting;
  • Tolerance to stress;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English. Oral and/or written interactions with external partners based outside Quebec (service providers, law firms, peers, bankers, brokerage firms, credit analysis firms, credit agencies, etc.)
