We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our Investment Finance and Valuations team in Toronto.

In this role, you will be responsible for activities that support the valuation and analysis of OMERS private equity and infrastructure investments. Primary responsibilities include hands-on development of valuation models and reports, asset and portfolio analytics and various other activities in support of both the Finance (Valuations & Reporting) and Investment teams, as required.

To support these responsibilities, the successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, experience in financial reporting and analysis, exposure to valuation methodologies and financial modeling and a willingness to learn new skills and systems.

As a member of the OMERS Investment Finance & Valuations Team, you will be responsible for:
Preparing private equity and infrastructure portfolio investment valuations on a quarterly basis, including the development of valuation models (e.g., discounted cash flow and comparable company / precedent transaction approaches) and drafting of valuation memos and reports
Identifying and understanding value drivers and investment risks across portfolio assets
Collecting market data using CapitalIQ and Bloomberg as well as performing other industry and market research to inform portfolio valuations
Liaising with Investment Teams to review past performance, strategy, outlook, regulatory and other relevant and emerging issues that impact the valuation of portfolio investments
Performing asset and/or portfolio level sensitivities to understand the valuation impact of changes in assumptions
Monitoring market events and analyzing the potential impact these events may have on portfolio asset valuations
Working with external auditors and independent valuators to support valuation conclusions
Assisting with other financial reporting valuation requirements such as impairment testing, purchase price allocations or other valuations disclosures
Providing support to other stakeholders across OMERS, including investment teams, the risk teams or portfolio companies, as required
Assisting with the preparation of internal and external financial reports prepared by the Finance Team, as required
Participating in other special projects, as required

To succeed in this role, you have:
Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline
1-2 years of relevant private asset valuation experience
Other professional designations such as the CPA or CFA designation, or enrollment in either program of studies, is an asset
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level) and the ability to work with complex financial models
Prior working experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx) is an asset
Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present findings in a concise and professional manner
Strong team player able to operate in a fast-paced environment under time-sensitive deadlines
Ability to build effective working relationships across the organization
