Purpose

The Senior Business Analyst, Strategy and Analytics reports to the Senior Manager, Strategy & Analytics. The Senior Business Analyst, Strategy & Analytics is responsible for defining, investigating, and developing solutions to support the systems used in the Tangerine GSS NS (including but not limited to the Name Screening and Case Management systems). Additionally, the role will be leading and participating in initiatives to identify and action opportunities for local improvements to productivity, decision effectiveness, and the user experience.The Senior Business Analyst will work closely with IT, Business Intelligence, AML & FIU Operations, and the Tangerine AML to ensure successful delivery of objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing and periodic evaluation of existing and new systems, tools and solutions to address changing business needs and emerging threats.
  • Perform ongoing development and management of systems, rules and deployed solutions.
  • Perform the monitoring and maintenance of NS strategies to address evolving trends.
  • Institute and manage a disciplined change process for regular testing and deployment of screening rules.
  • Perform analytics and reporting to generate an accurate and insightful perspective on rule effectiveness, detection rates, false positive rates and volume.
  • Drive robust processes to enhance Systems performance.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of FIU/AML Systems capabilities, gaps and opportunities.
  • Provide analytic support in the development and implementation of strategic plans.
  • Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of dedicated systems and drive periodic enhancements as needed.
  • Execute a variety of technical testing including Business Acceptance Testing and User Acceptance Testing
  • Assist the team in proposing, creating and presenting communications to management, stakeholders, and other departments on changes introduced as a result of new initiatives
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of AML/ATF and sanctions system capabilities, gaps and opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned


Project Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Manager, Strategy and Analytics to manage requirements-related activities and deliverables throughout the project life cycle (e.g. change requests, issues, risks, schedules, status reporting etc.)
  • Conduct data mining and analyses to generate insights and intelligence to support initiatives and commitments
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, use cases, scenarios, business analysis and workflow analysis
  • Write requirements / specifications using standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely
  • Assist in the development of Test Plans and documentation to support testing
  • Identify, anticipate, assess, manage and resolve issues and risks related to requirements' activities and deliverables
  • Assess project issues and identify solutions to meet productivity, quality and goals
  • Participate in regular status meetings with all stakeholders, to review project deliverables and deadlines, keeping the stakeholder’s needs and requirements continuously in view
  • Produce high quality artifacts through effective business analysis, process mapping, and requirements generation


Requirements

  • Experience
    • University or College Degree or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum 3-5 years of work related experience within the Financial Services industry
    • Minimum 2 year experience in Compliance and AML/ATF
    • Experience in consumer banking products (credit, deposit and cards)


  • Professional Certification
    • ACAMs certification is considered an asset
    • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification is considered an asset


  • Specialized Knowledge
    • Knowledge of Compliance and AML/ATF systems and troubleshooting experience


  • Technical Skills
    • Strong and proven analytical skills
    • Strong working knowledge of data mining tools
    • Strong working knowledge of programing languages (Visual Basic, SQL, Python)
    • Strong technical solution management experience and skills
    • Demonstrated experience using the MS Office Suite, in particular MS- Excel, MS- Word and preferably MS-Visio, MS-Power BI
    • Strong business analysis skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
    • Experience with statistical modeling and data science methods
    • Experience in business intelligence and analytics platforms
