Working for the Department

Enterprise Applications is responsible for the management, growth and sustainment of essential shared enterprise platforms in support of core administrative processes and business functions. Core Technology Services within Enterprise Applications provides technical expertise and support services for Oracle PeopleSoft and other core tools & technology, annual security & controls audit, including contract oversight for external application and infrastructure managed and new development vendor services.

Position

Reporting to the Manager of Core Technology Services in Enterprise Applications, the Senior Business Solutions Analyst of Security leads and participates in complex business requirements analysis, business process re-engineering, solution design, integration testing and continual service improvement in relation to the University of Alberta Enterprise Applications solutions, tools and technology. The Business Solutions Analyst supports the Manager in the implementation and support of business solutions, managing the application change process and providing application support in collaboration with central business services staff, Enterprise Applications staff, external service providers and new development vendors.

The Senior Business Solutions Analyst of Security provides in-depth application consultation to central business services departments, faculty & college administrative offices and campus users in business analysis documentation, process workflow & design, enterprise solution analysis and design, change management and solution delivery as it relates to security administration across PeopleSoft and other extended applications.

The Senior Business Solutions Analyst of Security leads requirements validation, analysis, design, testing and delivery efforts, resolves application problems and communicates solution training & procedure as they relate to the security administration processes, policies and procedures. The incumbent will ensure that solutions are documented for operations, maintenance and compliance purposes; will participate in application enhancement, feature enablement, upgrades or new development projects; and will manage the assets entrusted to them.

The successful candidate must have a solid functional understanding of PeopleSoft application fundamentals and core technology. The ability to manage multiple priorities within negotiated deadlines, coordinate activities and tasks across teams, and effectively communicate with participating stakeholders is required. Duties

  • Ability to lead, facilitate and conduct effective workshops and meetings
  • Strong analytical skills in transforming information collected from multiple sources to produce business requirements, process flow and design, use case analysis, and future state solution design
  • Lead and participate in the analysis of the application functionality for enhancements, upgrades and new development initiatives
  • Provides input to technical analysts on reports, processes, interfaces, data management and enhancement development
  • Provides production support following the completion of enhancements, upgrades and new development projects
  • Documents application process and design changes conferring with Enterprise Applications staff, service providers and business partners to ensure adherence to established standards, compliance controls and overall solution and operational quality
  • Defines use case and test scenarios, prepares test data, supporting documents and follows up on deviations and obtains validation sign off from appropriate users
  • Coordinates processes and enhancements with service providers with particular emphasis on testing and requirements validation
  • Liaises with the business partners and service providers to ensure operational problem resolution and testing execution occurs in a timely manner
  • Provides day to day advice and support to business partners, client areas and end users in security administrative associated application functionality, features and processes
  • Leads Enterprise Application application change efforts, resolves application problems and communicates procedures & solutions as they relate to the applications and technology associated with security administration
  • Assists other Enterprise Application staff and application service provider resources in the daily administration of the application in support of security administration and integrity
  • Participates and provides facilitative and consultative insight in the design, development and application of the security administration needs as it relates to administrative processes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration specializing in Business or Computing Science; undergraduate degree preferred, or equivalent work experience may be considered
  • Strong background and experience in enterprise level applications that support core financial, HR or student administration
  • Five years experience in a complex enterprise-level core application environment providing business process review, solution design and enabling, delivering and supporting functions, features and processes in Oracle PeopleSoft (PS) applications or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in Oracle PS or equivalent with demonstrated competency in features, functionality, processes, tools and technology
  • Experienced in application support or project team capacity with demonstrated experience in delivering through project & process management methodologies for enhancing and implementing enterprise level solutions
  • Experience in business process analysis and modeling techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Suite Collaborative and Productivity Products
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent group facilitation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with little supervision
  • Ability to think conceptually and analytically to action an opportunity, problem or challenge
