The work location for this role is flexible across Canada.
Proficiency in English is essential to the performance of the majority or main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups, teams; collaborating regularly with non-francophone teams on written documents; negotiating/drafting complex English documents; preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

As the Senior Manager, Corporate Actuarial (Advanced Analytics), you will be responsible for the delivery of advanced analytical solutions to meet the objectives of the Corporate Actuarial team. You will oversee the development and maintenance of complex predictive models for Property & Casualty claims reserving. You will also support the Corporate Reinsurance team with its purchase of reinsurance treaties through delivery of analytical solutions.


How you will create impact:

  • Delivering advanced analytics solutions to support the reserving of property and casualty claims.

  • Communicating results to stakeholders and committees and collaborating with business partners in the interpretation of performance metrics and storytelling of results.

  • Researching new methodologies in reserving analytics.

  • Continually advancing the measurement and interpretation of reserve model performance metrics.

  • Overseeing internal earthquake catastrophe modeling and analysis of external modeling results.

  • Partnering with corporate actuarial peers to complete ad hoc analysis requiring advance modeling or analytical techniques.

  • Coaching and developing your team, recruiting, and selecting talent, managing and rewarding performance, and fostering an agile culture to deliver on strategic objectives.

To join our team:

  • You have 7 years of experience in the actuarial science, data science or other related field.

  • Having 2 years of direct leadership experience is preferred.

  • You have a University Degree in the field of Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data science or other relevant program.

  • You have strong knowledge of advanced statistical concepts (predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, data visualization, etc.)

  • You have strong technical and analytical skills and advanced knowledge with database management, data manipulation and programming.

  • You have a strong sense of organization, ability to multitask and respect of strict timelines.

  • Experience in Property and Casualty insurance is required.
