Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Funds Transfer Pricing is responsible for maintaining and enhancing funds transfer pricing methodologies and processes related to transfer of interest rate risk (IRR) and liquidity risk. The role has a direct impact on the management reporting of the retail transfer priced businesses (Canadian Banking, WM, I&TS platforms).


A good understanding of financial/mathematical concepts, bank’s products and balance sheet, and strong technical and analytical skills are preferred.
In the delivery of the above mandate, the position is required to maintain a close working relationship with senior Corporate Treasury, Business, and Finance contacts. The position also provides timely and actionable information to senior management.

What You Will Do?

  • Develop, document, implement and maintain RBC’s non-trading funds transfer pricing (FTP) framework, methodologies, and processes that
    • provide market and customer behavior based pricing guidance for the retail bank’s products and services;
    • transfer and/or price interest rate and liquidity risks inherent in the products for risk management; and
    • provide a robust basis for market based performance management reporting
  • Enhance funds transfer pricing assumptions and considerations with respect to new and modified products aligned with evolving internal & regulatory liquidity requirements
  • Maintain and enhance FTP production models and processes with a focus on liquidity funds transfer pricing. Key duties include reporting, data analytics, and investigation of FTP queries
  • Perform liquidity premium level setting reviews, monthly liquidity FTP reversal reporting and analysis, and quarterly Liquidity Residual analysis
  • Execute plan and forecast FTP rates including product profile, rates impact, and NIM analysis
  • Assist with business meetings, queries, new products, and on-going product risk assessments
  • Support Director FTP in special projects, presentations and analyses and help team members
  • Work closely with Liquidity Risk and Interest Rate Risk Measurement & Management teams to ensure alignment between risk management and FTP mechanisms
  • Work with team member to automate and enhance methodologies & processes
  • Support regulatory, auditory and internal bodies inquiries related to Funds Transfer pricing

Must-have

  • Undergraduate/Graduate Degree in engineering, math, or finance related fields
  • 4+ years’ related work experience
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, strong Excel modelling, VBA, SQL
  • Solid understanding of mathematical/financial principles, risk concepts
  • Good understanding of bank’s products and balance sheet
  • Familiarity with business and accounting regulations

Nice-to-have

  • Professional designations (e.g. CFA, FRM, CPA)
  • Knowledge of FTP concepts and applications
  • Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) knowledge and experience
  • Experience with programming languages
  • Experience with business intelligence and/or statistical software, including Tableau, Power BI
