The Special Highway Operations Initiatives (SHOI) Office provides leadership, management and excellence in areas that involve special initiatives and programs related to highway operations and Operations Division cross-divisional/ ministry initiatives supporting the government's priorities.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role you will:
  • Lead and coordinate concurrent projects related to the development, implementation and maintenance of
business architecture assets and associated tools
  • Provide leadership, technical guidance and direction to project team members
  • Lead and coordinate data/information gathering, research and analysis
  • Develop business relationships with internal and external stakeholders to exchange information
  • Develop consultation processes with business areas,
  • Provide technical advice, guidance and support on business architecture assets, related developments and
issues to senior management, staff and other stakeholders

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

  • You have knowledge of applicable legislation, policy and program proposal analysis and development and relevant business systems, policies and procedures
  • You have knowledge of business analysis and business architecture services and methodology that align with overall goals, objectives and other requirements
  • You can prepare budgets and cost estimates, and conduct operational planning


Leadership and Project Management Skills:

  • You have the ability to provide direction, coaching and guidance to assigned project team members
  • You have knowledge of project management techniques and the ability to plan and lead multiple, concurrent projects


Research and Analytical and Problem Solving Skills:

  • You have the ability to assess clients' business requirements, research and propose options, and develop solutions to ensure client satisfaction
  • You have the ability to coordinate research, data collection and research
  • You have knowledge of issues management methodologies and practices to ensure an effective resolution of issues and problems
  • You have the ability to perform policy and statistical analysis; and to track project, financial and statistical data.


Customer Relationship Skills:

  • You have the ability to provide technical advice and support to clients and stakeholders
  • You can manage service level agreements with consultants and vendors
  • You can participate on committees, and lead and participate in project status meetings


Communication Skills:

  • You can communicate information and make presentations on publicly sensitive program issues to all levels of management
  • You have the ability to develop briefing documents and reports
  • You have knowledge of computer information systems and applications to prepare reports and presentations
