Currently, our Projects Controls division has a Business Process & Systems Analyst opportunity for individuals experienced with the following system: Ecosys.
The Projects Controls division is a high-performing team is committed to operational excellence by applying best practice project controls practices, procedures and tools to ensure the safe execution and delivery of projects at Bruce Power.
The Business Process and Systems Analyst will analyze, review and assess the effectiveness of the applicable systems, identify risk and opportunities and resolve issues. They will be required to propose and implement new or enhanced systems, features, processes and best practices. In addition, monitor systems for optimal performance, usability and availability.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
What will you be responsible for?
  • Maintain up to date system related documentation
  • Responsible for reporting on the health of all PCD systems and execution of the data mining functions determined to determine system health
  • Ensure that all personnel in the Project Controls Division (PCD) are appropriately system trained (through job aids or vendor training) with system access associated to their respective roles
  • Provide oversight to vendor compliance to standards of PCD Information Systems
  • Ensure high quality, effective services that meet customer needs and facilitate achievement of the Department's business plans
  • Monitor performance and initiate any actions necessary to correct any adverse trends and proactively respond to future needs and requirements
  • Provides PCD systems monitoring and system enhancements to support the company's business objectives and strategic plan
  • Monitors data integrity issues
  • Specific accountability includes support to PCD and their client groups in the areas of Period-End and Reporting cycles, System Access and general system support
  • Analyze and evaluate upstream and downstream system interfaces for obtaining resolution of any issues identified. Identify and recommend business simplification opportunities
What are the key functional responsibilities?
  • Analyze, review and assess applicable PCD systems and processes based on one or more of the systems noted above, assessing their effectiveness, identifying opportunities, resolving issues or problems, and proposing/implementing new or enhanced processes, practices and systems. This includes contributing to the assessment of the impact of changes sought by the management team, advancing effective recommendations to guide decision makers
  • Preserve integrity of the data through data governance and analyze data to support the development of statistical and other models a required
  • Provide expert, technical judgment on the systems to the Manager and management team with effective recommendations for optimum strategies for the operation, development and improvement of these systems and business processes within Project Controls
  • Interact with Information Technology Division support entities to resolve issues or execute improvements to the systems
  • Provide and co-ordinate technical support to PCD regarding business process/systems information and changes
  • Enhance, improve and/or replace these business processes and systems, and where required build/implement new systems and business processes
  • Develop system requirements and related documentation/specifications in conjunction with Information Technology Division interfaces
  • Design and implement changes to administrative procedures and business re-engineering improvements
  • Identify and recommend business simplification opportunities
  • Identify the project control, contractual, systems and administrative implications of the various initiatives; assist in developing work plans relative to the issues or problems to be resolved and obtain the necessary resolution
  • Provide analytical support in order to develop statistical models and characteristics that manage business risks related to Project Controls
  • Responsible for monitoring of the above listed systems as applicable including administrative tasks required for the same
Knowledge and Skills
  • Requires knowledge of subjects of project management and control, budgeting and performance reporting, decision support systems, information systems and relevant computer and information systems skills
  • Requires good interpersonal skills and well developed communication skills
  • Requires a good knowledge of English, both oral and written, to facilitate effective communication
  • Strong background in computer systems and software innovation, system design and change management
  • Able to work autonomously while being highly organized, process oriented and able to handle multiple priorities
Ecosys
  • Strong background/understanding and/or experience of standard project cost, change and earned value management processes, information system integration and practices preferred
  • Strong understanding of various external and internal stakeholders requirements with regard to cost, change, progress measurement and earned value/performance management preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant AACEI recommended practices for Project Controls with emphasis on Cost, Change and Earned Value Management would be considered an asset
Education and Experience
  • This knowledge is normally considered to be gained through the completion of a four (4) year University Degree or College equivalent in an appropriate field such as Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems or Information Technology, or Engineering
  • A period of over 4 years up to and including 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
  • Certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project or Program Management Professional (PMP, PgMP) and/or demonstrated familiarity with the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) is considered an asset. Any certification by the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineers International (AACE), with special emphasis on the Cost, Planning and Scheduling considered an asset
