IT Project Manager

Reporting to the Assistant Vice-President, Project and Strategy Management, the IT Project Manager will work with IT and business stakeholders to define and establish project objectives, scope, roadmap, milestones, and deliverables as applicable and aligned to delivery strategy.

Core Functions:

  • Produce well-defined technical delivery plans outlining key project activities, their sequence and delivery timelines

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to optimize technical solutions aligned to IT and organizational strategies

  • Drive integration discussions to socialize technical design and integration approaches with cross impacted dependent applications

  • Manage and track project tasks and activities to ensure performance and delivery against plan including identifying and managing critical dependencies and coordinating with key stakeholders to address issues as applicable and required to ensure the delivery of project objectives and deliverables

  • Ensure timely project reporting is available to all stakeholders

  • Lead regular working group sessions with key stakeholders within technology and the business to identify and track actions effectively to support the plan

  • Understand proposed design solutions; challenge decisions where they are non-strategic or have cross impacts and drive them to conclusion; work with stakeholders within IT and the business

  • Risk Management: Collaborate, identify and track all dependencies and risks (technical and non-technical) and explore mitigation strategies aligned to delivery plan

  • Demand Management: Escalate demand requests to leadership for prioritization and resourcing and manage the delivery life cycle. Providing all information required for senior management to make prioritization decisions. Responsible for end-to-end process.

  • Ensure testing approach is agreed and resources secured; manage the process and resolution of issues, risks, dependencies and bottlenecks

  • Oversee “Go-Live” preparations, including creating activity checklists and managing post implementation activities collaboratively with stakeholders.

  • Ensure project documentation are complete, current, and stored appropriately

  • Participate in the definition of portfolio priorities and objectives, aligned to the organizational strategy

  • Manage improvements to the Smartsheet project portfolio management tool

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or other relevant field

  • Minimum experience of approximately 5 years in information technology (IT consulting would be ideal) preferably with some exposure to Agile, DevOps/DevSecOps and Cloud-Centric IT

  • Expertise with one or more project management methodologies

  • Advanced proficiency in project management tools and software (Smartsheet preferred)

  • Exceptional analytical skills

  • Strong leadership and motivational skills with both virtual and in-person teams

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity

  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in a variety of project environments

  • Superb problem-solving and resource planning skills

  • Expertise in creating project reports

  • Solid interpersonal skills

  • Efficiency in managing and prioritizing tasks

  • First-class verbal and written communication skills in English required; French an asset
