Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operating North Star’s tractor and lowboy equipment trailers, moving equipment between various projects in Calgary and the surrounding area.
  • Deliver aggregates and other material as determined by the Transportation Manager. Safely Load and unload equipment and, secures loads for transportation as required.
  • Safely Load and unload equipment and secure loads for transportation as required.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections and safety checks to proactively identify any potential mechanical issues and advise the Transportation Manager.
  • Keep the truck in a clean and professional condition at all times.
  • Complete daily accurate pre-inspection and post-inspection regulatory logs, Field Level Hazard Assessment sheets for all worksites, transportation timesheets and submit to the Transportation Manager.
  • Ensures truck/trailer is returned to the company yard full of fuel at the end of each day.
  • Assist other employees when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience moving Heavy Equipment.
  • Must have a valid Class 1 driver’s license and provide a current 5-year driver abstract
  • Must be able to drive standard (18 speed)
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS2020) Certification.
  • Ability to identify and describe mechanical issues on the truck/trailer
  • Winch tractor experience

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have CSA-approved safety boots.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time and look over shoulder.
  • Able to climb up and down from equipment.
  • Must be able to work out of town.
  • Must be able to lift chains and boomers of all sizes.materialssecure

Experience:

  • Heavy & Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers: 3 years (required)
